From Rivera's Groove Box #123: Dino & Terry - Summertime Blues

You keep forgetting all the time how good soulful deep house used to sound, because nowadays the sound is dominated by very mechanical and rigid tech sounding tracks. And some of these tech sounding tracks are really exceptional, but some of them lack soul in my opinion. Someone who is used to these 'new' deep house tracks, told me that saxophone doesn't belong to that sound. Oh come on, saxophone and natural sounding instruments have always been a big part of deep house, and house music in general. It's just that we have lost some natural sounding harmonies in the midst of this mechanical soul music. It seems like producers nowadays are afraid to go with natural sounding instruments and prefer synths, pure drum machine beats and cover their sounds with a lot of effects. I don't even know how people would react to a track like 'Summertime Blues' between newer deep house tracks - would they leave, would they just stand there puzzled or keep slowly grooving to music?
