From Rivera's Groove Box #307: Jazz-N-Groove - Open Up

Without a doubt the best from early Jazz-N-Groove, when they were into deep garage house, later in the 90s they started producing soulful vocal rich house music, with releases like on the Soulfuric label, they really became known to. The EP this track is from, was really rare and sought after for a while, but thankfully it got repressed. Jazz-N-Groove really have earned their place among house masters!

From Rivera's Groove Box #306: DJ's Rule - Work That Sucker

Work that sucker down! This is as good as it gets, some proper deep house vibes from 1991. I don't think it sounds dated at all.

From Rivera's Groove Box #305: Hiland - Knowledge

Just listen to those mad cowbells and rims going on in this track! All saturated in a fuzzy lo-fi aesthetic. My kind of house music!

From Rivera's Groove Box #304: DJ Sunroof - Beat Down

Classic NYC deep garage house vibes influenced track with a lovely lo-fi touch. Featuring the stage antics vocals from a Loleatta Holloway live perfomance. Many old school house tracks have sampled this live performance which went down at the Better Days venue in New York sometime in the late 80s. Loleatta never wanted this performance to be released or sampled, but a recording got into the hands of Junior Vasquez who released that without asking anyway. Loleatta got real mad about that! The next time she saw Junior, she chased him down the street wanting to beat the crap out of him. True story. This performance is also where Armando got his vocal samples for '100% Of Dissin' You'.

From Rivera's Groove Box #303: Anthony 'Shake' Shakir - Get A Feeling

Totally raw. A pounding distorted kick drum, deep bass, minimal keys and a funky feeling. 90s Detroit house music at its best. Samples 'Something's Got A Hold Of Me' by Etta James.
